Among the colors, white is the most luminous, because it is literally the reflection of all the other colors in combination. In Ricardo Mazal’s most recent large scale works the violets have become much higher key, as the use of white pigment comes to the fore. The horizontal bands, created while walking down a long wooden ramp that the artist constructed for this purpose, tilt the horizon on its axis. There is a sense of the painter’s next direction, an intuition of Mazal’s incipit next series.
